In addition to our one-on-one therapy services, Good Nature Therapy Services also offers therapeutic groups throughout the year. So, what is a therapeutic group? A therapeutic group is a group that is hosted by one or more skilled group leaders and may be supported by additional volunteers/interns. Skilled group leaders are typically made up of occupational therapy practitioners or speech-language pathologists. The curriculum of therapeutic groups are meant to target specific skills for a specific demographic. For example, one therapeutic group may seek to build self-esteem and confidence in seven to nine year olds while another therapeutic group may focus on developmental milestones of infants. Interested in learning more? Check out some frequently asked questions, below:

What if my child is already enrolled in occupational therapy (OT) or speech-language pathology (SLP)? Therapeutic groups are a great way to see how the skills your child has developed in therapy are generalizing to other settings. Within therapeutic groups, children are required to engage with peers and complete tasks with less support than what they would typically receive in a one-on-one therapy session. You can think of therapeutic groups as a way to take the training wheels off and practice newly learned skills in a safe and supported environment.

What if my child is not enrolled in OT or SLP services? No problem! Therapeutic groups are a safe place where children can take risks, engage with peers, and develop skills under the direction of a skilled group leader (typically an occupational therapy practitioner or a speech-language pathologist). The benefits for therapeutic groups are for all children!

Do you take my insurance? We do not accept insurance for therapeutic groups. You will pay for these groups just like you would a summer camp. While our therapeutic groups do promote skill development under the direction of a therapist, they are not considered therapy and therefore will not be billed to insurance. See the chart below for more information on the difference between therapy services and our therapeutic groups:
